COMMERCIAL LINES UNDERWRITER

We are looking for Commercial Lines Underwriters in Durban and Johannesburg to join our dynamic team!

  • Remain up to date with product and industry related knowledge to enable effective
    decision making.
  • Regular feedback to customers and other stakeholders, as outlined in the agreed
    service level agreements to ensure customers receive appropriate levels of service
    delivery.(Please refer to Annexure H for SLA Agreement)
  • Interpret and process technical short term insurance related information.
  • To receive and finalise instructions from clients, brokers and all other stakeholders.
  • Attend and contribute to team and individual meetings.
  • Capture and update all tasks onto the task management system.
  • Develop relationships with clients and ensure consistent high levels of service
    delivery.
  • Maintain a quality assurance process that identifies and corrects short comings.
  • To always act within the scope of your mandate provided by the FSP
  • Compile and generate reports where required by management
  • It is of utmost importance that annual CPD hours are achieved and all regulations set by the FSCA such as (but not limited to) POPIA and Fit & Proper requirements are adhered to at all times.

Minimum Requirements:-

  • A minimum of 3-5 years commercial lines underwriting experience.
  • RE5
  • Class of Business – Commercial Lines
  • Full qualifications NQF4 (with relevant FAIS credits)
  • Preferred system experience – TIAL Responsibilities:-
  • Receive and finalise instructions from clients, brokers and all other stakeholders, as outlined in agreed service level agreement.
  • Issue policy in accordance with the new business workflow process.
  • Processing of quotes, new business, amendments and client queries.
  • Action renewals, cancellation, endorsements and corrective action.
  •  Adhere to all internal and external processes, guidelines, mandates and
  • service level agreements.
  •  Client retention.

Candidate Requirements:-

  • Good knowledge and understanding of the short term insurance industry legislation/regulations/compliance.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proactive and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Work independently and as part of a team.
  • Build and maintain internal and external relationships.
